It happens at the worst moments: a bite of toast, a drop onto the bathroom floor, and your denture is in two pieces. The kitchen drawer is right there, and so is the tube of superglue.

Before you use it, read this.

Why superglue and dentures don’t mix
• It isn’t made for your mouth. Household superglue can irritate your gums and the soft tissue
under your denture.
• It rarely lines up properly. Even a tiny misalignment changes how your denture sits, which means sore spots, rubbing and a poor bite.
• It can make the repair harder. Glue seeps into the cracks and damages the surface of the acrylic, so a proper repair afterwards can be more difficult, sometimes impossible.
• It doesn’t last. A glued join is weak, and it usually fails again at the next meal.
A denture is made to fit you exactly. A proper repair keeps it that way.
